About the Course

Basic intention of this endeavour is to develop psychology researchers who will contribute new constructs to the psychology and who can critically judge reliability and validity of the psychological questionnaire. This basic course offers mentoring on constructing items of psychological questionnaire. Item or statement is the core or basic unit of the Psychological questionnaire. Item complexity and ambiguity adversely affect total scores of the questionnaire. This results into conflict in accepting findings of the research. This course is intended for individuals who wish to gain basic knowledge that will allow them to construct their own questionnaire. This will reduce unnecessary time and energy to move from door to door for questionnaire. This course includes 10 lessons with 15 lectures.

About the Instructor(s)

Dr. D. Dutta Roy, Ph.D. (Psy.)

Dr. Debdulal Dutta Roy, Ph.D, (Psy.) is the Assistant Professor of the Psychology Research Unit of the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. He received Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in 1990. He is registered Ph.D. supervisor of the Calcutta University. Dr. Dutta Roy is the recipient of few awards for his researches namely 'Young Scientist Award ' in 1988 by the Indian Science Congress Association, 'Best Poster Award' in 2003 and 2004 by the Indian Science Congress Association, 'ICQESMS 2005 Excellence award' by the Indian Congress on Quality, Environment, Energy and Safety Management Systems (ICQESMS) and Central Board for Workers Education (CBWE) in 2005, 'Professor T.E. Shanmugam Award for excellence in research for 1999 and 2000'by the Madras Psychology Society in 2003, 'Best Paper Award' by the Pondicherry Psychology Association in 2003 and 'Psychometric educational services award, 2004 by the GCC School of Creative intelligence and Research foundation trust, Vepur-Arcot, in 5th January, 2008. He is also the Life member of Indian Science congress; Founder Member of Indian School Psychology Association, New Delhi; Member of Academic Council of the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata (2008-10); Member of Executive Council of the Indian Academy of Applied Psychology from 2008; Member of Advisory Board, Performing Arts Therapy centre, Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata; Member of Academic Council of the Calcutta Metropolitan Institute of Gerontology, Kolkata; Member of Academic Advisory Board of Jyotirmoy School of Business from November,2010; Member of the Editorial Board of the 'Journal of Management Research in Emerging Economies’of Dr. B.C.Roy Engineering College, Durgapore and  Adjunct Faculty of Business School of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. He is the author of the book titled “Principle of questionnaire development with empirical studies” available in Amazon.in.  He did extensive research on item statistics in different fields of Psychology. His contributions in psychological research are a) organizational diagnosis; b) increase in Cronbach’s coefficient alpha; c) computer adaptive test validation; d) Confirmatory validation of psychological test using correspondence analysis; e) Psycho informatics; f) Psychophysics in operation research; f) Rabindrik approach in psychological counselling; g) Agro-psychological in psychological counselling; h) Developing sustainable consciousness: problem of teacher education; (i) Hierarchical cluster analysis in test-retest reliability. He constructed several psychological instruments a) organizational health assessment; b) Reading and writing motivation; c) Self-efficacy of agricultural farmers and d) computer aided aptitude test batteries for computer programmers, e) Verbal reasoning test battery. He wrote 74 research papers published in Indian and foreign journals including US, Europe and Pakistan. He wrote 11 book chapters on various issues. He gave more than 90 invited lectures in India and abroad. He gave lecture in China, Bangkok, Nepal and Lahore. Dr. Dutta Roy is the Chief Editor of Psybernews, International journal.

Course Format
  • Offline and online mode of training with voice assisted Powerpoint presentations and a manual provided at the start of the course. The participant will have a week’s time to master one particular module of the course and he/she can contact the trainer either through email/ chat or video chat for any clarifications.
  • Each module will have it own activity and a pragmatic paper for better understanding.

Recommended Background
